The Australian Government introduced the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) to support and enable eligible Australians with permanent or significant disabilities to lead a meaningful and wholesome life.
The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) monitors and regulates the NDIS for fair and equitable services to the participants.
The NDIS has been pivotal in enabling persons with disabilities to manage their own care the way they want to by shifting the focus of funding disability care and support needs, to the participant from the service provider ensuring and encouraging a competitive marketplace for all NDIS providers to to strive to provide quality services to benefit the participants.
NDIS supports participants in various ways, including assistance with:
- Access to in-home and community services, to be able to participate in activities and travel at their need,
- Assist participants build life skills, capability and employability skills
- Nursing services for participants requiring an advanced level of care
- Purchase and ability to access to NDIS consumables as required.
